WEEK #31 - Castle Rock Zone

WEEK #31
02.29.16

Hey everyone! Another great week or the books! Today is also my 7 month mark... woah.
On Monday, we drove to Parker to be with the missionaries in that part of the zone. We all ended up going bowling at what's called the Brunswick Zone! It was a really cool place and I bowled a pretty good game:) After bowling, I stayed in Parker for exchanges with Elder Johnson in the Ponderosa ward. That night, we went to a couple of appointments and had some good lessons. We even got to teach about the Restoration to some investigators! After we left that house, it was snowing outside! It was coming down pretty quick too.
On Tuesday, in the morning, the snow didn't stick to the roads very much so we were able to get some work done. We stopped by a ton of part member families, and that was great because that's what President Rehm wants us to be focusing on. We exchanged back that afternoon and were able to prepare for the lessons in our own area. Dinner was with the Snow family and they are super awesome. It's always fun to go over there. After dinner, we had a lesson with a less active couple, who just had a son leave on his mission. I think that they are opening up and softening their hearts now that they have a kid of their own on a mission. The mother, when we were leaving, gave us a bunch of food to take home:) It was delicious too:)
On Wednesday, we planned for the next week and then went to Task Force for service. After all of that, we went on some more exchanges and I stayed in the Plum Creek ward with Elder Andersen. We went and stopped by some people that bishop had asked us to see and got some more information on them for him. For dinner, we went to the Gatrell home and they were also feeding the Spanish elders too, Elder Taylor and Elder Muldowney. We had a good meal and a cool lesson with all 4 missionaries. Then, we went to teach Bonnie and Jeff and had a good discussion about the restoration of the gospel and why it's important to follow that gospel. Our lesson with Clint cancelled because he said he was going to be out of town for about two weeks:( hopefully he gets back soon!
On Thursday, Elder Andersen and I went to the pines apartments and saw a moving van and so I was like "let's go help!" and we were able to help this young family move out of the apartment. We had a good conversation and they had some friends that were mormon! They weren't interested in having us over to teach, but they were really friendly and were very thankful for the help. Afterwards, we met with Kelli at the library and had a lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end is so crucial to having a Christ centered life. The lesson went really well and it was cool to have the lesson in the library. We exchanged back and had a good lunch after that. Later, Elder Mogle and I went and visited one of the potential investigators that we had come across while tracting. His name is Noe Hernandez (pronounced 'no way') and he is only a year older than us. He just moved into the apartment on his own a couple weeks earlier and was very welcoming to have us in. We got to know him and we relate really well to him. We taught the 1st half of the Restoration to him and he received it very well! He is very down to earth and is super friendly. We have a time to go back and meet with him again this coming week and we are so excited. Dinner was with a less active member and his active wife. We had a good meal and a good lesson too, where the less active member participated frequently! This is a huge step because he had previously been completely against having any contact with the church a couple of years ago. We had a good lesson with the Wassons at the end of the night and retired from a good and successful day.
On Friday, we met with one of the single adults in the ward and had a good lesson with him. He has been struggling with some things and felt that he could meet with the missionaries to help him out. He is really cool and sincere and it was great to meet with him. After that, we went to our district meeting and had a good time there. We learned about the importance of commitments. Then, we went and played bingo with all of the old people at Bonneventure afterwards. We had a good lesson with Brother Dazey and then went to Brother Gann's place and had a great time just talking and teaching. Brother Gann is a pretty cool guy:)
On Saturday, we helped the Bay family move all of their stuff from the house they were at, into the new house that they bought two doors down. It didn't take long at all to move all of the big stuff over, but all of the little things took a lot of time. In reward, they took us to Qudoba for lunch:) After the move, we went to Sedalia for the day to find some people that we were looking for. It is pretty gorgeous in Sedalia and it was cool to drive around the country.

We had dinner with the Polson family and it was pretty great. Everyone we were looking for had moved away and didn't live at the addresses. But it was a good night. Oh yeah and I almost hit a 2 point deer  driving around. Bambi just decided to see if he could cross the road before the car came.
On Sunday, we had a meeting with the Parker South Stake in the morning and then went to our ward council. Right before church, we had a meeting with Brother Kendall as well. Church was awesome and afterwards, we were pulled aside by Brother Smith, the 2nd counselor in the bishopric and asked if we would be willing to give talks on Easter Sunday. We drove out to Sedalia again for our evening appointments. we had great lessons with the Funks and the Turnbaughs. Dinner was with the Pettingills and it was delicious. Brother Pettingill was feeling pretty sick and so we gave him a blessing of healing. We ended the night by going over to Bishop Rolfson's house and coordinating our missionary efforts. He is a really great bishop.
That's about it for this week! hope everyone has an awesome day and an awesome rest of the week. Love you all!
