WEEK #31 - Castle Rock Zone

WEEK #31
02.29.16

Hey everyone! Another great week or the books! Today is also my 7 month mark... woah.
On Monday, we drove to Parker to be with the missionaries in that part of the zone. We all ended up going bowling at what's called the Brunswick Zone! It was a really cool place and I bowled a pretty good game:) After bowling, I stayed in Parker for exchanges with Elder Johnson in the Ponderosa ward. That night, we went to a couple of appointments and had some good lessons. We even got to teach about the Restoration to some investigators! After we left that house, it was snowing outside! It was coming down pretty quick too.
On Tuesday, in the morning, the snow didn't stick to the roads very much so we were able to get some work done. We stopped by a ton of part member families, and that was great because that's what President Rehm wants us to be focusing on. We exchanged back that afternoon and were able to prepare for the lessons in our own area. Dinner was with the Snow family and they are super awesome. It's always fun to go over there. After dinner, we had a lesson with a less active couple, who just had a son leave on his mission. I think that they are opening up and softening their hearts now that they have a kid of their own on a mission. The mother, when we were leaving, gave us a bunch of food to take home:) It was delicious too:)
On Wednesday, we planned for the next week and then went to Task Force for service. After all of that, we went on some more exchanges and I stayed in the Plum Creek ward with Elder Andersen. We went and stopped by some people that bishop had asked us to see and got some more information on them for him. For dinner, we went to the Gatrell home and they were also feeding the Spanish elders too, Elder Taylor and Elder Muldowney. We had a good meal and a cool lesson with all 4 missionaries. Then, we went to teach Bonnie and Jeff and had a good discussion about the restoration of the gospel and why it's important to follow that gospel. Our lesson with Clint cancelled because he said he was going to be out of town for about two weeks:( hopefully he gets back soon!
On Thursday, Elder Andersen and I went to the pines apartments and saw a moving van and so I was like "let's go help!" and we were able to help this young family move out of the apartment. We had a good conversation and they had some friends that were mormon! They weren't interested in having us over to teach, but they were really friendly and were very thankful for the help. Afterwards, we met with Kelli at the library and had a lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end is so crucial to having a Christ centered life. The lesson went really well and it was cool to have the lesson in the library. We exchanged back and had a good lunch after that. Later, Elder Mogle and I went and visited one of the potential investigators that we had come across while tracting. His name is Noe Hernandez (pronounced 'no way') and he is only a year older than us. He just moved into the apartment on his own a couple weeks earlier and was very welcoming to have us in. We got to know him and we relate really well to him. We taught the 1st half of the Restoration to him and he received it very well! He is very down to earth and is super friendly. We have a time to go back and meet with him again this coming week and we are so excited. Dinner was with a less active member and his active wife. We had a good meal and a good lesson too, where the less active member participated frequently! This is a huge step because he had previously been completely against having any contact with the church a couple of years ago. We had a good lesson with the Wassons at the end of the night and retired from a good and successful day.
On Friday, we met with one of the single adults in the ward and had a good lesson with him. He has been struggling with some things and felt that he could meet with the missionaries to help him out. He is really cool and sincere and it was great to meet with him. After that, we went to our district meeting and had a good time there. We learned about the importance of commitments. Then, we went and played bingo with all of the old people at Bonneventure afterwards. We had a good lesson with Brother Dazey and then went to Brother Gann's place and had a great time just talking and teaching. Brother Gann is a pretty cool guy:)
On Saturday, we helped the Bay family move all of their stuff from the house they were at, into the new house that they bought two doors down. It didn't take long at all to move all of the big stuff over, but all of the little things took a lot of time. In reward, they took us to Qudoba for lunch:) After the move, we went to Sedalia for the day to find some people that we were looking for. It is pretty gorgeous in Sedalia and it was cool to drive around the country.

Sedila

downtown denver from Selila

We had dinner with the Polson family and it was pretty great. Everyone we were looking for had moved away and didn't live at the addresses. But it was a good night. Oh yeah and I almost hit a 2 point deer  driving around. Bambi just decided to see if he could cross the road before the car came.
On Sunday, we had a meeting with the Parker South Stake in the morning and then went to our ward council. Right before church, we had a meeting with Brother Kendall as well. Church was awesome and afterwards, we were pulled aside by Brother Smith, the 2nd counselor in the bishopric and asked if we would be willing to give talks on Easter Sunday. We drove out to Sedalia again for our evening appointments. we had great lessons with the Funks and the Turnbaughs. Dinner was with the Pettingills and it was delicious. Brother Pettingill was feeling pretty sick and so we gave him a blessing of healing. We ended the night by going over to Bishop Rolfson's house and coordinating our missionary efforts. He is a really great bishop.
That's about it for this week! hope everyone has an awesome day and an awesome rest of the week. Love you all!

WEEK #30 - Castle Rock Zone

Hey everyone! We had a great week this week.
On Tuesday, we emailed our families and such and then, Elder Mogle and I went to have a lesson with our investigator and less active member. We met at a restaurant called kneaders and taught the restoration of the gospel. Our investigator, Kelli, has a great testimony and desire to strengthen her faith and we are so blessed to be teaching her. After that, we went to the apartment complex and tried to get ahold of Drew, another investigator, who we hadn't heard from in a while. We were able to catch him at his door and we kinda got real with him. We asked him if he wanted to learn or if he was just trying to avoid us. He told us that he still wanted to have us over (which was a relief) but that he was dealing with all sorts of crazy schedules right now and needed to wait until life settled down. We told him that we understood and that we would still keep in contact with him so we would know when we could come. For dinner, we went to the Haycocks home! President Haycocks is the first counselor in the mission presidency and it's always good to spend time with them. We met with the Pettingills and had a great time there. That night, we met with a sister who made some bad decisions in the past and is not a member of the church anymore, but is now looking to strengthen her testimony back up by having us teach her. We met Bonnie and her nonmember boyfriend Jeff and taught the first half of The Restoration. They had a lot of great questions and insights that we, gratefully, were able to answer clearly and correctly. Both of them loved the mirror analogy relating to the Great Apostasy that I shared. We were able to bring the spirit into the home and are going to continue to meet with them and help them grow closer to Christ.
On Wednesday, we did service at Task force for most of the day and got to smash a bunch of glass. That evening, we met with Brother and Sister Rolfson, they being related to Bishop Rolfson, and had one of the youth in the ward come with us to teach them. After that, we had President and Sister Haycock come with us to our lesson with Clint. We had a great discussion about the Plan of Salvation. We talked about how it was part of God's plan for us to receive the ordinances of salvation, such as baptism, by proper authority. He told us that he was reading in Alma 32 and came across verse 16 which says:
Therefore, blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe.
Clint read that and said "Yeah...that's me." It was cool to see him recognize that he needed to be baptized. I then asked I'm if he would be baptized and he said "yeah, I know I need to." I then presented a date in March that he could get baptized on, and he told us that he would pray about it. We again testified of the importance of this covenant with the Lord and encouraged him to sincerely ask The Lord. We left feeling excited, but nervous at the same time. We are praying intently for Clint and hope that he receives that confirming witness.

On Thursday, we drove out to the Horse Power ranch to scoop up some more horse poop for a couple hours. There are a lot of messy horses up there. Afterwards, we exchanged with the Perry Park elders. This time, I stayed in the Plum Creek ward with Elder Durfee, who has only been out for a couple of weeks! It was good to feel like I was training again and we had a good day full of missionary work. We had a good dinner and were able to meet with a less active member who requested a lesson on Fasting! It was a good one and we were able to help them.
On Friday, we went to district meeting and had a good time there. We practiced how to get out of sticky situations while teaching at that was pretty fun:) We then had a district lunch and went to MOD pizza, where I created another east coast style pizza:) Tomato, garlic, basil, pesto, mozzarella, yum:) After that, we went to the Bonneventure retirement home and played bingo with the memory unit. They are always a little wacky and we have to repeat the numbers a thousand times before they found them haha. B seventeen... waht? B SevenTEEN.... ehat? B SEVENTEEN. It was pretty funny. We had a great evening and it's always fun when we go over and have a lesson with Bishop Rolfson and his family.
On Saturday, we were walking around and saw a moving van full of stuff! So Elder Mogle and I rolled up our sleeves and asked if we could help them with anything! The lady said sure! So we went to work and unloaded the small van. The whole time we were moving stuff in, they were saying "thank you, thank you so much!" we got most of the stuff out of the van and we got to take a break and tell them about who we were and what we do as missionaries. As we left they said "Please come back!" and so we are excited to get to know them better. Then, at 4:00, we went to the leadership session of stake conference and we learned a lot about how to be good leaders and such. We had just enough time to grab a bite to eat and head to the Saturday evening session of stake conference. Elder Deshler, an area seventy was there and instructed us well on covenants like baptism and things like that. It was a long day with lots of instruction.
On Sunday, we got to the general session of stake conference a little early to save a seat for our investigator Clint a seat next to us and bishop. A couple minutes later, Clint walked in with bishop! it was great to have hime there. Stake Conference went really good and I felt that Clint got a lot out of it. He still hasn't said anything about baptism yet, but we won't rush him. After the conference, we were able to meet with President and Sister Rehm for a little bit to discuss how we can find the key to missionary work here in the castle rock stake. President said that he put us there to find a way to get the missionary work moving more. I know that we can do it because we have been having so much success lately. It was great to inquire of the Lord with President Rehm and I know that the Lord will help us. It was such a great week and I am so happy to be on my mission serving the Lord.
Love you all!

WEEK #29 - Castle Rock Zone

WEEK #29
Hey everyone, this past week was pretty awesome:)
On Monday, we had our preparation day where we played a couple of board games and played sports. Our investigator Clint was set for an appointment tonight, but ended up pushing it back to Wednesday. We had dinner with Bishop Rolfson and his family, and since the Broncos won the Super Bowl, there were orange and blue themed foods:). Our fruit salad was cantaloupe and blueberries:) both of our other appointments for the night cancelled on us and so we went and helped the Gann family move some couches into their apartment.
On Tuesday, we had our Zone Conference! Elder Mogle and I had to go early and set up tables and chairs. The meeting lasts from 9am to 4pm usually. Earlier I was asked by President Rehm to conduct the conference, and so during the meeting I told everyone where to go and what was next on the agenda. It was a great meeting and we learned a lot. First, we heard from a couple of missionaries speaking on different subjects and then we heard from President Rehm, who talked about the sabbath day and keeping it holy. It helped us see how important it is to make sure that our investigators know how to keep the sabbath day holy. Then, the Assistants and Elder Mogle and I pulled up a few graphs to talk about how the zone and how the mission overall were doing statistics wise. We talked about what we could fix and what we could do better at. We then heard from Sister Rehm and she talked about how we are all elect children of God. It was nice to hear about the basics again and to simplify down to who we are and the potential of who we can become. Then, we had a break for lunch and had some good Hawaiian haystacks:) After that, we were taught by the Assistants on using the power of the Holy Ghost when we teach. We, as members of the church, were given the Gift of the Holy Ghost through baptism and confirmation by the proper priesthood authority. Our investigators simply don't have this gift and so it is our job to make sure that when we teach they have a spiritual and uplifting experience. We wrapped everything up with a Q&A session with President Rehm and then heard the testimonies of the missionaries who were in training. Afterwards, we helped take everything down and put it all away.
It was good to see the zone and to see President and Sister Rehm as well. For dinner, we were taken to a pretty good Chinese restaurant and had good orange chicken. That night, after all our appointments, Elder Mogle and I drove down to Colorado Springs to start our exchanges with the Assistants. We got to their apartment at about 9:30 and rested for the next day's adventures.
On Wednesday, we woke up and Elder Buxton and I exercised a little bit before we got ready for the day. For exchanges with the Assistants, both Elder Mogle and I stay in the Springs and split off with one of the assistants to work in their area. So Elder Mogle went with Elder Buxton and I went with Elder Guerrette.

Exchanges wtih Elder Guerrette

We started off by driving to Memorial Park and looking for people to talk to there. We had some great conversations with some strangers, but no one was super interested. As we were walking back to the car, we started talking to a homeless man and as it turns out, the missionaries had really helped him out in the past. We gave him our phone number and he said he would call:) Later, we met up with Elder Buxton and Elder Mogle to go get some food at the food trucks in downtown Springs. The Sister Training Leaders also met us there and we all had some good Mexican quesadillas.

Eating at the food trucks

We continued to walk around and knock doors after that, trying to contact some people that had said they would be interested. At one point, we were walking down a street and when I saw the street name, I stopped remembering seeing it on one of the lists at the apartment. So Elder Guerrette and I turned around and found the house we were looking for. We knocked on the door and a younger guy answered and invited us in! We were looking for someone else, but it turns out that this guy was LDS and pretty inactive! We talked about different things and found out that he was a big time wrestler and is trying to make it to the Olympics. We then talked about why he was less active and he talked to us about that. We didn't put too much pressure on him, but stressed the importance if coming to church and stuff like that. He loved having us over and hopefully there will be mor progress there. We came home for dinner at around 6:00 and made our own meals. It was a great exchange and we learned a lot! Elder Mogle and I drove back to Castle Rock just in time for our lesson with Clint. We talked a little more about the Restoration of the church and he accepts it completely:) he believes that there is a prophet on the earth today and that The Lord truly did restore his gospel back onto the earth in it's entirety. It was a wonderful lesson and we are helping him to progress:)
On Thursday, we went and did service at the Horse Power Ranch and helped scoop out horse poop from all of the stalls. It was pretty smelly and gross, but I didn't mind it too much. Elder Mogle brought his horse mask and swooned a couple of females around the area haha.

Crap

That night, we had a bunch if appointments to go to and started with dinner at the Hess home. Later in the evening, we stopped by a less active member's apartment to see if we could get in and have a lesson. When they answered the door, they were hesitant to let us in, but then the father said "Ehh, we probably wouldn't let them in for another 3 weeks anyways, so come on in since you're already here." We found out that they just had one of their brothers pass away and were going through some hard times. They said that our lesson on charity really helped them out and were grateful for us coming over:) it was nice to sit down and talk with them. After that, we went down and saw the Gann family in the same apartment complex. They are really fun and we had a good lesson with them:) it was a great night.

pDay hike

On Friday, we went to our district meeting and had a great lesson. Because of some emergency transfers and things, we were moved from our original district into a different one. Elder Jolley is now our district leader and Elder Durfee, Sister Talili, and Sister Topham are in our district. After district meeting, all of us went and had lunch together. Then Elder Mogle and I drove to Parker to meet with Bro. Jones, the high councilman over missionary work in the Parker South stake. We had great discussion and talked about how we can help our zone and the stake as well. We got back in time to have a lesson with Bro. Dazey, who is a less active who is scheduled to have his temple recommend renewed this week, which counts as a re-activation for us:) our last appointment for that night was with another less active family and they had over a woman who was excommunicated from the church a while back, Sister Carlson. We had a good lesson with all of them and at the end, Sister Carlson said that she wanted to have the missionaries teach her the lessons again so that she could become a member of the church again. He also said that she had a neighbor who was interested as well and wondered if we could teach them both next week. We were like, of course!!
On Saturday, we went on exchanges and I was with Elder Taylor in the Plum Creek ward. We were invited by a less active member and his nonmember wife to have lunch with them and so we went over there and had hamburgers. After lunch, we sat down with them and had a good lesson:) Then, we went and helped Brother Wolthius on his house again, priming a couple more spots and laying down some wood floor. That night, we went to the Young's house to teach them and they were babysitting a couple of other families kids. So we showed up to an audience of 12 kids and attempted to teach all of them a lesson:) Elder Taylor and I did pretty well and got some good answers out of the kids. On Sunday it was Valentines day and as part of family tradition, put stickers on my face. I didn't get any box of chocolates but I did get a hairy box of jerky, which might be even better:) church was pretty awesome. We had a lot of less actives attend and it was great to see them there. There was even a young boy with his mom and older brother there who was doing a report on Mormons for his religion class. He picked the Mormons because his mom has a mormon friend in the ward :) After Sacrament meeting, we met with them and their Mormon friends in a classroom and answered some of the questions they had. They were in awe of how different everyone else views Mormons versus who members of the church actually are. We were able to clarify some misconceptions that were taught in his class and Brother Anderson, their LDS friend, taught them about the restoration of the gospel. They could totally feel the spirit confirming that truth. Their faces, as they heard the experiences of Joseph Smith, lit up with understanding:) we had a great time with them. We left them with a Book of Mormon and also the website LDS.org for any other questions they might have. It was a really cool experience. We went to dinner and they had chicken cordon bleu for us:) it was great.
Yesterday, it was President's Day and so all the libraries were closed. So we decided to go hiking in Castlewood Canyon State Park. It was a beautiful hike and it led us to an old dam that had bursted a while back. Then we went and played volleyball and basketball at the church.

So despite not being in our own area for very long, we saw huge success this week:) The Lord surely blesses us for the work we put in :) have a great week everybody!

WEEK #28 - Castle Rock Zone

Hey everyone! It's been a crazy busy week, which usually makes it a pretty great week too.
On Monday, it was snowing pretty hardcore! We were almost going to have to park our cars per request of the vehicle coordinator at the mission office, but a small miracle happened and it cleared up enough for us to go to the library and email our families! When we were done with that, we came out and it was STILL snowing! But, thankfully enough, the roads were staying pretty clear so we went to the church and played sports for a little bit. Then, Elder Mogle bought a small saucer sled and we went to the hills by the church and slid down them. I then had the idea to stand on the sled and hang on to the back of the truck as we drove around the parking lot! We got going pretty fast and it was crazy awesome! It was a pretty good pday:)

On Tuesday, It had kept snowing through the night and was STILL snowing in the morning!! So in the morning we bundled up and set out to work shoveling (just for fun;))  about 2 feet of snow out of about 5 driveways. In total, it took about 3 hours to get the driveways cleared and we were headed back to the house when one of the owners of one of the housed we shoveled walked up to us and thanked us for providing that service for her. We are probably going to stop by her home later and see if she would like to meet with the missionaries!

After that, we walked to the church (Because our car was parked) to tackle some zone paperwork that we had to do. We have to collect information about the miles driven in the cars by all the missionaries and compile them into a spreadsheet for the vehicle coordinators at the mission office. We also have to work a lot with the missionaries in collecting information for the Castle Rock stake and the Parker South stake and giving it to the presidencies of each stake (its a lot of time out of our day). A lot of our appointments cancelled on us due to the snow and it didn't stop snowing until that evening.
On Wednesday, the skies were clear and we were able to use our cars again and did our weekly planning today instead of Thursday. We then went to the thrift store to do service. We helped them tear out a wall and clean it up so that they would have more space to put stuff. For our lessons that night, we took some of the "youth missionaries" along with us. The youth missionaries are usually seniors in high school and come with us to teach to help us out and to help them prepare for their missions. It is really cool because they look at the appointments that we have set and pick a time to come with us! it was great to interact with the youth in the ward. The Plum Creek ward is very missionary-minded and love doing missionary work with us. What a blessing!
On Thursday, we drove to Colorado Springs for our Mission Leadership Council. What happens there is all of the Zone Leaders and the Sister Training Leader meet with the Assistants to the President and with President Rehm to discuss how we can 'lift' the mission to a higher standard. It was really cool because I wasn't alone in my inexperience:) Elder Clancy, Elder Tallman, and Sister Smith all came out with me and it was fun to catch up with everyone. The meeting went from 8am to 4pm so we were up early and in the meeting all day. It was great dicussion and was really cool to be a part of. Then we went to the mission office in the Springs and got a truckload (literally) of supplies for the missionaries in our zone. We had dinner with a less active family, and so we were glad to get into their home to try and support them. After that, we had ANOTHER meeting in parker with the Just Serve board. I was glad to get out of there at the end of the day. I was pretty sick of sitting in meetings.

On Friday, we had Zone Training! Remember the last one? yeah, this one was waaayy better. There were new missionaries in the zone due to transfers, and so there was a lot more interest and participation. We focused on how to effectively work with the members of the ward and the bishop. Then, we focused on how we can build each other up in righteousness and promote unity in the zone. It went really well and the missionaries seemed to 'get it'. That night, we met with a less active member, Brother Perez, and he took us to Crave burger. It is where they have all kinds of wacky burgers and things like that. It was DELICIOUS.

On Saturday, we went back to work on Brother Wolthius' house to help him work on stuff. Mainly, we helped prime the walls in a couple of rooms and taped one of the closets up for painting. We had a good line up with lessons and were able to teach all 3 of our appointments really awesome lessons.
On Sunday, EVERYONE was pumped for the superbowl. It was nuts! I sported a nice bright orange tie with my suit to church and Bishop Rolfson was doing the same! luckily, the game started at 4:30 over here so everyone could make it to all of church. During the 3rd block we got to help out with the Sunbeam class. It was fun to be there in class with the 5 and 6 year olds. After church, NOBODY was on the streets. Everyone was packed inside of their houses ready for the big game. There were bronco flags and blow up machines everywhere. We were home for a little bit before dinner and we could hear the family screaming and cheering when the broncos scored their first touchdown. We then went to our dinner and they called themselves a nerdy family because they didn't watch the superbowl. That was nice of them to help us not be apostate :) However, we went over to our ward mission leader's house and we watched like 2 minutes of it until we had our meeting. Then we heard THEY WON! It was super cool. Orange and blue fireworks went off in the city and it was almost like new years. It was a good week for sure!
Love you all and thank you so much for all the support and love from home!

WEEK #27 - Castle Rock Zone

Hello everyone! It's been a pretty good week!

On Monday, we met with everyone and said bye to those who were getting transferred away. We played a little bit of basketball as well, which is always fun. That night, we had dinner with the family that houses us, the Kumpfs, and had some great pasta.
On Tuesday, it was transfer day, so we had to go and trade our truck for a car so that some sisters who were getting transferred could fit all of their luggage into a vehicle haha. So we drove around a Toyota Corolla for a little bit. We had to go to the computers to do some zone paperwork and then exchanged back our truck! Our zone will be gaining 3 new missionaries and we will have 5 districts in the zone. The new missionaries' names are, Elder Soller, Elder Sanders, and Elder Durfee.

That night we had dinner with the Pettingill family and they invited a less active member over to eat with us! His name is Ryan and we had a great and simple lesson on the Restoration of the Gospel. The spirit was definitely there and Ryan really enjoyed it. He liked how we went to the basics and testified of the eternal truth that is contained in our message. And I believe that it really comes down to the basics! It is the same with everything. If you want to get better at shooting your free throws, you don't practice your dunks. You sit at the line and practice your basic technique and rhythm over and over. If people want to know if this is the true church, they do the basics. They read the Book of Mormon, pray about it, and have the faith to act upon the answer that they receive from God.

It reminds me of the scripture in 2 Nephi 33: 10-12
10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good.

11 And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye--for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness.

12 And I pray the Father in the name of Christ that many of us, if not all, may be saved in his kingdom at that great and last day.
I love how Nephi puts it so plainly. The Book of Mormon is absolutely the word of God and testifies with conviction of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful lesson and we felt really good about it.
On Wednesday, we went to the Spanish Elders' apartment to drive to service. However, as we were leaving a parking lot, Elder Taylor got into a minor accident that dented the side of one car and took the front license plate of his car. So we had to wait for the police and everything. We then went to service a little late and helped out at the Task Force thrift store. Our dinner backed out on us so we decided to got to Mod Pizza which was incredible. It's pretty much like subway for pizza where you get to customize your pizza and everything. So I customized mine to be a Pepe's version of garlic tomato basil and pesto:) it was delicious!
On Thursday, we did our weekly planning and had to get some more information from the members of the zone. Then we tracted around the apartment complex that is in our area. For dinner, we went out to Sedalia to have dinner with the Turnbaughs. They have the biggest house that I have been inside! It's huge! They have an indoor basketball court and spiral staircases as everything:) Brother Turnbaugh said that he used to live in Moab Utah as a kid and Sister Turnbaugh is from Payson Utah too! It was cool to talk with them about the small towns is Utah haha.
On Friday, I hit 6 months out and it scares me a little bit because I am not the missionary I want to be yet and a quarter of my mission has gone by. I just have to give it my best and it should be fine:) We went to our district meeting and had a good lesson on having no fear. Then we went to Costa Vida for lunch and went back home. We tried to stop by some less active members, but they wouldn't come to the door:/. After dinner, we went to help Brother Wolthius with his house! I got excited because this is the kind of work that I like to do. We are pretty much completely renovating the house. So we helped him with his trim and baseboards for that night.
On Saturday, we got to be a part of a youth wrestling tournament for service!! It was pretty dang awesome. I ran the table at one of the mats and kept the score of each match. Elder Mogle did the time. There were a couple of members there that were surprised to see us there and came up to us to chat:) it felt like I was back at home watching Mckayd and Keldon wrestle with dad yelling at them saying SHOOT THE HALF! We were there for most of the day, as wresting tournaments normally go and then headed to dinner. Afterwards we went back to the Wolthius house to put primer on all the walls before they paint it. We are going to start laying down the hard wood floor pretty soon.
On Sunday, we tried to visit a couple of less active members before church, but again, no answer. Church went really well and for the 3rd block, we learned about how to make the sabbath day more of a delight. After Church, we set out walking everywhere:) It started coming down pretty hard too! to we bundled up and walked for about 30 minutes to a less active that we were trying to get more information on.

Nothing happened there, and our dinner cancelled so we went over to the Snow's house and they ended up feeding us:) we walked to our other appointments in the blizzard and finally made it home to do call-ins. As a Zone Leader, we are over about 24 missionaries including 5 District Leaders. We meet often with the District Leaders to help them in their areas. So we talked to each of the District Leaders and got information on how they were doing and the members of their district were doing. After we do this with all of the District Leaders, we call the Assistants to the Mission President and tell them how our zone is doing. It is a lot of work!
Love you all and hope you have a great week:)
